ARTIST STATEMENT
Use complete sentences
and correct grammatical structure in your writing. Use correct punctuation. Your answers should
be detailed and descriptive. When you
make a statement- explain the “why?”
Introduce yourself in the first paragraph. Why are you in art class? What are your
goals for yourself in art class?
Hello,
my name is Tori Abernathy. I am in art class because I enjoy being creative and
making drawings, paintings, and ceramics. My goal in this class is to learn
about something new into the world of art. The more I can learn about it the
better I am.
In the second paragraph discuss the skills and techniques
you have learned. What are your current
goals for working with techniques and skills?
I’ve
learned many things from this half year of ceramics. I’ve first learned how to
take completely dry clay and make it able to be molded in just a day. Secondly,
I learned that the small things you can do (such as reinforcement coils and score,
slip, & knitting) will make a HUGE difference in the outcome of the
project. My goal is to make a magnificent piece of ceramics with excellent
technique and artistry.
In the third paragraph discuss your most successful project
this year. Why is it successful? What are you proud of? What challenges did you overcome in making
the project? What did you learn from the process? Will it influence future works of art?
My project that I feel was most successful was my swan whistle project. The detail I made with the wings was striking to the eye and I did good at glazing it. I'm proud that it made a smooth whistle sound along with it. A couple of the feathers on the wing fell off so I had to try and overcome being extra gentle to the project when handling it. I learned that clay can break really easily if once it's dry. It will influence how careful I am with my future projects, and to score, slip, knit more than what I did to make sure the feathers stay on.
Optional Fourth
Paragraph:
Do you have a message
you are conveying to the public with your artwork? If so- what is your statement to the world?
Why do you make art work? How do you want the public to interact with your
work? What do you want the public to take away from your work.
